My key gets stuck in my ignition

My key gets stuck in my ignition and to get it out i have to unhook my battery. I have a 95 4runner any body know any about what is going on? i have never heard of this before so show me what tricks u got to get keys out it might be the tumbler but im not sure. Any help is welcome.

My 98 escort does the same thing from time to time, and when I took it to the auto shop the first time, they showed me a trick so I diddnt have to buy a whole new lock core and shebang.

Anyway- tap on the key with a rubber mallet while turning it backwards- that should allow it to come out.

it could be a couple of things IMO.the ignition lock cylinder could be going bad,or it could the shifters park switch that engages and releases the key.id try putting a little dry graphite in the ingition lock cylinder and see if that helps.i have a question,does the cylinder move otherwise when you turn the key or is it just stuck in the off position

I can turn the car on and off just fine it just gets stuck on the accessory and wont budge to off when the battery is hooked up.

i know on my jeep if the shifter is in neutral you cant remove the key, so maybe its something with some sensor or switch
