18" Punch XLC (pics)

Hello everyone!

As I was waiting for my HDC3 15" to ship (Coming next Thursday), I decided to put a little bump into my car. I bought a 18" Punch xlc and a sealed box to fill in on bass for the time being. I'm afraid to admit that i'm used to push terminals and i have no idea how to wire this damn thing..

This subwoofer is 8 ohm.

I have a Hifonics brz 1700.1, is there any way that i could hook this subwoofer to it @4 ohms? At 4 ohms, this amp does 600 watts. I know it's still a bit much, but i don't really care about the sub. I got it for about 50 bucks.

Thank you sir! Is this a duel voice coil subwoofer? I'm so lost on these old speaker wiring. All i've had have been alpine and they have all had push terminals..

Well, so far the only option on the12volt has been to wire it at 8 ohms but my amp isn't stable at that impedence, is it? That's if this sub is single voice 8 ohm.

Your amp is stable at anything above 1 ohm.

Yes your amp is stable at the ohm, all you do is look at the white peice that the terminals are on, you should see a + or a -, wire it parallel, means positive to positive, negative to negative.

edit: looking at it, after i replied, looks to see one is a postive, the other side is a negative, since their is only one lead wiring come off the terminals. I would use a 9v battery and test to see which is the right phase.

I'm still confused on weither this is a single voice coil or duel voice coil subwoofer?

I really wish I could run this at a 4 ohm load on my amp but I have no idea weither I can or not.

There is a red dot on one of the metal things. I'm assuming that's the positive side.

You really can't tell if it's a single or dual? Knowing it's an old Rockford woofer, I assume it's a single 8 ohm. So no, you cannot wire it at 4 ohms.

Hopefully it'll get a good 300 watts from my amp
