whatever voltage the amp goes into protect at.. i couldnt find it in the manual, then again i skimmed it looking for X-18V

idk about 9v. its obvious if your shits at 9v cause your lights go out.

ima say.. 11.6V @ 2k rpm when it hits protect.

what kind of vehicle? year, brand, model? (need more info so we can bet on your voltage)

it won't protect at 11.6.....

Hifonics amps I think protect around 9 volts. I have dipped to 10s just fine.

Well, my lights aren't going out, but they do dim before the amp goes out. So it's probably around 9v

Well if your lights are dimming hard and you have little electrical upgrades you can have up to 2 volt drop at amp so then you are seeing super low at amp and causing it to protect. I would say check when you are playing but it really isn't good for that amp to be playing like that. Get some electrical upgrades then try. Or try regainsetting then try for a second.

is it this colossus?

running too low of load could be an issue too

Yup, that's it.

I'm pretty sure I wire'd it to 1 ohm, unless a wire got messed up from the port. I'd have to check with a DMM wouldn't I?

Yeah dude, it's one of the 'essentials' of car audio
