DannyB Posted January 21, 2012 Report Posted January 21, 2012 Ok...so it's been awhile since my last but I need some advice....I have a 4 channel MB Quart ONX4.80 and two sets of Polk Audio MM6501's....the 6501's are 2.7ohms and the amp puts out 160wrmsx4 at 2ohms....I have an 08' mega cab the 6501's are installed in the doors....I want to make my front stage louder so I ordered another 4.80 MB Quart and bridged the amps to each set 160wrms @4ohms....(I only noticed a little difference in sound and voulume)....so my question is can I get my front stage louder if I order another set of 6501's and install them in the kick panels??? 07' 6.7 mega cab H&S mini maxx DPF/EGR delete 5" TBE 4.5" Fabtech 35" nittio trail grapplers 20" BMF novakane's Kenwood KIV-700 Rockford Fosgate T1500-1bdCP 2-MB Quart 4.80 3-Polk Audio MM6501 ProBox DMC212L-1000 144db @45hz Viper 5901

IMO for a noticeable difference you are going to need some significant upgrades. haha he is talking about his front stage... you do know all frequencies can be measured in db, right?

Each onyx 4.80 is fused for 50 amps, roughly 500 watts on its best day. Being that your bridged at nominal, you should be seeing most of that 1000 watts total. Being in the position you are I would try to run the speakers active because you have the ability to. Can you give us some more info on your electrical, grounds, and your crossover settings? All frequencies can be measured in decibels. You are wrong in the sense that doubling power will increase output by 3db. That statement doesn't take into account mechanical limitations. Once a Speaker has reached its mechanical capabilities, or starts getting close to them, output doesnt increase. On the rare occassion that statement might be true, but it normally doesn't happen 'by the book' like that. Highs are even more tricky than substage too when it comes to increases in output.
