When you disconnect the speakers check their resistance with a digital multimeter. I am a bit unsure as to whether or not the speakers themselves have a 2.7 ohm resistance on each one. If they turned out to be closer to 4 ohms each then there is a way easier way to wire it up.

Either way, it's a serious night and day difference to run active instead of passive.

Ok guys so this is what I'm coming up with...I am concerned with the ohm load and the wiring....all the diagrams I pull up tell me this...if I have three woofers (one channel bridged) SVC 4ohms wired in series give me 1.34ohm....I don't think the amps will handle 1.34ohm...anyways...three woofers SVC 4ohms wired in parallel gives me 6ohms...

I called polk and the said they are 2.7 at the woofer and a little more for the tweeters...I can't find a wiring diagram for a 2ohm SVC speaker...for series and parallel wiring

I'm dying over here....I did research and came up with one mb quart 160wrms x 4 @ 2ohms feeding 2 sets of Polk audio mm6501's 125wrms per side...it was a good match up....till I wanted my mids and highs insanely loud so I bought a second mb quart and bridged both sets of speakers (not much of a difference)....so I bought a third set of mm6501's and this is where I'm at as you guys know.....I had no idea about running active and will be switching it Saturday.....

Like they say it's never going to be good enough and if you wanna play you gotta pay!!!!

I can't thank you guys enough for the advice and pointing my dumbass in the right direction....I'll post a vid this weekend....the b4 and after....I guess if it doesn't work I'll get a jl Xd amp and some k2's

You keep mentioning a easier way to wire up if they are all 4ohm....please...do tell.

It is definitely worth your time. Try this out.... Disconnect your tweets from your crossovers (So that you're running mids only.) Play it full tilt.

Then your comparison:

Bypass the crossovers by hooking the speaker wire straight to the mids. Use wire nuts or whatever other temporary means you have just to see if you notice a difference or not. Make sure your Bass is flat or negative in the 50 hertz range on your deck. Once you've bypassed your crossover, SLOWLY turn it up keeping in mind that you have no safeguard against blowing your speakers. See if it makes a difference. I'm not responsible for your blown speakers. Do it at your own risk.

Your system won't sound the same without the tweets, but I have a feeling your mids will have more power without the crossover, and I can hope that your tweets would in turn do the same thing without a crossover. Some crossovers are better than others, so the difference might be minimal, or the difference might be huge... Worth a try though.

How does bypassing a passive xover = active??? Gotta be the stupidest shit I've read in this thread yet...

Sell the stuff you bought and get PA mids and supertweeters if you want to get loud.

Running active will NOT magically make things louder, it just gives you more options for xover points/slopes.

I have 1 PB6.5 per door and 2 $10 vifa tweets in each A-pillar and they will make my ears ring after 1-2 songs. All running off a single Helix 4x60 amp...
