C.Sanchez.A
My sub is not quite keeping up to my mids/highs. Or it is and I'm expecting more form it. It feels as if there should be more "thump", I hear more highs and mid then I feel or hear bass. I have a feeling it's the new box I put it in, but I don't want it to be because it is the best and nicest box I've built. First off the sub is a Rockford Fosgate P212S4, it's rated for about 150 - 200rms. It's seeing about 100rms from a Alpine MRP-F240 (bridged). The box it is in now is a 1:1 ratio 4th order. 2cu.ft. sealed / 2cu.ft. ported to around 48hrz. The old box it was in was a sealed 3cu.ft. box, nothing special. The system is in a '94 Mazda B3000 ext. cab. It also seems like with the new box I am missing some tones. Any way I can fix my problem, with out having to change boxes? Old Box: New Box: This system as to get me through at least the next year, until I can get a bigger one. SQMonte
So the only thing that changed from ur previous setup to this one was the box? I always thought 4th orders should be 2:1....how did u come up with the volume calculations? Seems like you just kinda guessed and hoped for the best. I think your sealed section is way too big, especially since the ideal sealed box for one of those is .85ft3. I know its not what you wanted to hear but I think the box is your issue. Socky
I would try to shrink the seal portion then test it. I have the same sub it sounded about the same on 50 watts and 250watts I just put it in my room it wasn't enough either. Sorry bro you can run a 1:1 ratio. most people use a 2:1 ratio to bring their peak up and focus on a group of notes. same with 3:1 and so on. but yeah your sealed sid is GIGANTIC. i would bring it down to around 1 cube.
