Box design for 4 10's

Recommended Posts

when you get around to making your final box, use MDF or birch, not plain plywood like you did on the first page.

Yeah everything will be 3/4" MDF

Here are the suggested braces:

Is not like they are stricty necessary but I would do them.

What do you think about the rectangle box idea?

The best thing that you could do is take the design that was given to you with the four subs firing forward, just making the internal volume 2 cubic feet, if you want to do what you just said here's how:

DIMENSIONS AS SEEN FROM THE TOP!!

Enclosure Specifications:

Vgross = 2.073 ft^3

Subwoofer Mounting = Flush Mounted

External Height = 23 in

External Width = 23 in

External Depth = 10 in

Cut List:

* All Dimensions in Inches.

* Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts.

External Enclosure Parts:

2 x Front & Back (3 parts) = 23 x 23

Left & Right Sides = 7 3/4 x 21 1/2

Top & Bottom = 23 x 7 3/4

I case you missed it I already gave you that design, it's no good for trunk type of vehicles. I would use 2 of them in a ported box to get just as loud or better yet 2 12" or a single 15" all are good options. The V design will work well but yes it will take some effort to build.

So why doesn't it work good for trunks?

It just keep flexing the trunk lid, the energy is translated into rattling and there is not much of a point on doing that but I guess you can always try...

Will it put out any SPL at all? I mean I just want to hit around a 120db on demand. Will it at least sound good?

just go with the above suggested design. the one with the V shape. don't do anything where the subs are upward facing, because that makes the trunk lid rattle and flex, rather than the sound being transferred into the cabin of the car. the only other option i forsee here is possibly a 4th order.

something like this 399527_210342642391380_101923673233278_425585_783247080_n.jpgBut on a litte bit smaller scale. i'd think a 4th order would be a little louder than sealed too.

shoot me a PM if you would like me to design you something like this.

Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs.

More box builds

some cars do over 170db with one sub, so clearly my two 12"s can do that in my car, with my knowledge too! look out bitches!

I'm with captain stupid.

No one will advise you to do that box, wil it sound good to you?? well who knows, if you put 2 of those subs on a ported box will sound AS LOUD as 4 in a sealed. That would sound to me as a good deal!
