List: 1. Bad Ground 2. Gain too high 3. stipek Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 Amp goes into protect when the input/output electrical is outside of its designed parameters. Therefore the troubleshooting can be extensive. The most common are bad ground or speakers are wired wrong. If you have had it hooked up for awhile and now it just all of a sudden started, you should be looking at components of the amp itself. Decaf Posted February 8, 2012 Report Posted February 8, 2012 thermal/dc short/low ohm load are the most commonly used circuits, and also the most likely reason an amp is in protect an amp will fry before it protects from turning gain up to high and most amps will stay on til 9-10v if it doesnt fry first from the massive current draw the amp was never designed to dissipate. also, amps wont turn on without a proper ground, I can't say i've seen a "poor ground" circuit ever
