are you looking for loud? or sound quality? little bit of thump to fill in what you speakers arent picking up, or vibrating your nuts bass?

Legal TL scores145.6 on the dash sealed up in the low 40hz area with the port out145.5 on the dash sealed up @30hz with the port inless then 1k clamped on a 3.5k!

Why would you EVER WANT flex?
huh?...flex is what can make the lows lower and more air being pushed correct?

Ported is is louder than sealed, provides more power handling around the tuning point, takes up more space.

4th order takes up more space still, but gives better power handling and will dig into the lows allot more since they don't have the unloading issues a ported box has. They are also more sensitive to design error than ported boxes, so don't mess up if you go this route :)

i dont wanna thread jack but could you quickly explain how a 4th order can drop real low, if the sealed section is used for the lows ? its been bugging me

Ported can have extremely good SQ when tuned(usually in the 30 hz region), and designed right, never buy a prefab ported box, they sound like crap cause they are usually tuned too high(like 40 something hz at least) and are usually too small.

Sealed boxes are easier to build and can sound good, but you lose a lot of dB's, and you don't get as deep with it.

I personally liked ported cause sealed sounds weird to me, sounds like it's missing something to me.

yea that's what my friends have been telling me to get a ported box. does anyone know if alpine makes their own enclosures or where i would be able to buy a box specifically made for those 2 10's type r's?

4th orders do dig into the lows much better than regular ported boxes. plus, depending on the ratios of the sealed and ported box, you could have a flat response. meaning that one note will be just as loud as another note.

edit: if you were wanting to buy any type of box like online or at a store or something, dont do it. its honestly much better if you build it yourself with a design you can get from someone on here.

Normal ported boxes drop off below the tuning point because they stop loading on the port and the port and sub begin to play out of phase form one another.

In a 4th order, one side of the sub is sealed and isolated from both the ported side of the both and the environment it's placed in. This eliminates the out of phase effect and unloading of the sub.

I hope I explained that in a way that made sense lol
