Got the factory self leveling suspension air compressor relocated to give me more room for sub enclsosure. Loud now though since its not in the sound dampend enclosure it came in. Subwoofer enclosure should block it out substaintially when it goes in. If not, at least it only comes on about once a day for maybe 10 seconds so its not a huge deal. Heres the pix so far. Im also gonna route the wires and air lines a little better before all is said and done.

Sorry its been slow coming but im waiting on the group buy for a xp3000 in march before i can do the enclosure since it will be a little taller than the factory battery. Ive been bouncing around on the different parts of the system and trying to prep for the next step mostly. I will be working on converting the woodgrain trim to brushed titanium today. Will post pix after while.

I also do not have my own Ipad so to speak. The one im using for a template is my fiances. I had two Ipad ones at one point but for some reason the Ipad one introduces noise that the Iphone 4 and Ipad 2 do not. Someone will surely argue this with me but I can tell you with 100% certainty it does. I had 2 to try and both did exact same thing, extra noise when put on pause and playing no sound. Try ipad 2 and its fixed. Try Iphone 4 and its fixed. So needless to say i will be doing an ipad 2 or 3. Which is the other reason for delay since the ipad 3 is not even out yet. I know the screen will be the same size so I went a head with some ground work to get it going. So basically when the Ipad 3 comes out I should be ready for it whether i choose to use it or the Ipad 2. The ipad 2 will also drop in price which is another good reason for me to be patient for now since the ipad 3 should debut in the next month based on the rumors.

So basically look for march to start seeing some real progress. Im thinking of building the spare tire well out of MDF too.....should be an epic amount of wood working to replicate what fiberglass can do easily but I may just try.

Slightly unrelated to my Stereo build but still the same car and so thought I would share. These are pix of me converting the X5 factory woodgrain to 3M's 1080 scotchprint Titanium vinyl.

Heres some before shots with the old and cracked woodgrain.

Was doing real good till I got to this piece and FAIL. notice the tear in the upper right corner, well that led to me ripping the shit of and messing it up far worse. So now im out of vinyl and will have to order more. Got every piece done but the center console. Well I at least found out that i will need two people for it. Damn aggervating now i will be without a console for about a week at least. Already ordered more. I will win next time vinyl. lol

Yeah this stuff is really some awesome material, so flexible and workable. Can be pulled up and reapplied multiple times. Still very hard to do a large complex piece but Im learning. They just came out with some black brushed metalic vinyl too and it looks cool. I may be doing this in my fiances M3 as well since her trim has some flaws on the high traffic areas.

I will post some more and better pix when I get more vinyl and finish the center console..... I should have ordered more to accomodate the learning curve on this stuff.

the vinyl is called Scotchprint 1080 from 3M and they have many different colors and patterns. They will send you a sample pack if you go on their website and fill out the form.

It is easy if your piece is flat or curves one way only. If it curves in two directions then you get into some problems real quick. At $5 a square foot its a little expensive to learn with.
