Ive presonally ran a 2200 on a two hdc3 15s and they laughed at it. If you wonna see how much they can take ami customs throws 10k to 4 of them about 7k daily on the 4. Id run a 2200 on it personally. ShakeNbass Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 i know they there down sides. friend system we hooked up on 2 2200 aq strapped on 2 15 hdc3 on recones the coil ripped from spiders at finals. i know could been fact not broke in yet but herd they do that alot. i like them there cheap and cheap to recone. daily i put 1500 easy to one if was me and that about what u get out single 2200 depending on impedance rise. personal best for 2012 new best 148.4 at 50 hrz on 2500 watts clamped with 2 dd3515 on audiobahn a5000spl 133.3 extreme score 2 dd3515 2004 model dual 2s audiobahn a5000spl amp wired at .5 ohm daily q power ofc zero gauge wire. 4 batteries in trunk
mlstrass Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 I hear this "copper is more musical" thing all the time, but I liked the alum coils better in my last set up as I swapped back & forth a few times. Now I only run alum. Copper coil I'd run a 2200 on it, alum coil 3500. I run 2 3500's on my alum coil and just keep it dialed down for daily. Burped it the other week full tilt and it took it fine. Only guys tearing spiders are playing way below tuning with way over RMS power and you can't blame the sub for that...
TeamHT Posted February 17, 2012 Report Posted February 17, 2012 I think the musical thing originated from people running aluminum coils on lower or rated power...which is still low, lol. On a dual 15" setup in a trailblazer, the aluminum coils sounded perfectly fine. Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
