Box decisions

Recommended Posts

Subject 12'' Punch Hx2 should I port them or keep them in my sealed box. My problem has always been trunk space, I own a Honda and well you already know. My current system sounds decent, the box is chambered 1 cubic ft. per sub But I know there can be more shake. Oh and Ps if I do decide to port = im on a tight budget what so you think about 4'' PVC for the mean time. im thinking port noise

Yes you can do ported very well on that space with 3 4" aero ports (flared), ports/subs in the same face front firing is suggested, take a look:

Enclosure Specifications:

Fb = 36.048 Hz

Vb = 4.128 ft^3

External Height = 13 in

External Width = 30.25 in

External Depth = 28 in

Cut List:

* All Dimensions in Inches.

* Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts.

External Enclosure Parts:

2 x Front & Back (3 parts) = 30 1/4 x 13

Left & Right Sides = 25 3/4 x 11 1/2

Top & Bottom = 30 1/4 x 25 3/4

Port Quantity and Dimensions:

Number of Ports = 3

Pipe Port Diameter = 4

Pipe Port Length = 16

Top to bottom and front to back crossbracing applies. Let me know any questions.

4 cubes seems a bit large for a 12 don't you think?

It will sound tight but still on spec:

Enclosure Specifications:

Fb = 36.06 Hz

Vb = 3.687 ft^3

Subwoofer Mounting = Flush Mounted

External Height = 13 in

External Width = 30.25 in

External Depth = 26 in

Cut List:

* All Dimensions in Inches.

* Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts.

External Enclosure Parts:

2 x Front & Back (3 parts) = 30 1/4 x 13

Left & Right Sides = 23 3/4 x 11 1/2

Top & Bottom = 30 1/4 x 23 3/4

Port Quantity and Dimensions:

Number of Ports = 3

Pipe Port Diameter = 4

Pipe Port Length = 18 1/4

As before top to bottom and front to back crossbracing applies.

Joe, I think you might be looking at the specs on the 18 or something.

3.7 cubic feet is ENORMOUS for a single 12 inch sub.
