Joe X
Yeah, I agree with CVX on this one. that port is WAY too small. Last time I checked the port recommendations on Alpine subwoofers were 2.75. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/135354-alpine-type-x-12-portedvented-box/page__view__findpost__p__1905455
HunterJohnson
It sounds DAMN good and it fits perfect in my car. If i had a tahoe or an astrovan then sure id like it bigger but for what i have with my dimensions its nice and makes my roof flex plus its almost alpines specs its 1" Scion tC SQ BuildiPad mini, lots of fabrication, daily drivenFord Explorer C Pillar Wall Build Just a cheap car to destroy with bass
irpirate
kicker recommended me a box for 4 12s and it sounded like ass. box is too small port area is too little. looks like a custom made prefab. hiiiiiiii2002 4runner - buncha speakers n amps n shit (gone)1994 astro - more stuffzupdate: pretty sure all the pic links in the logs are broken lol. ma slop garb build log16 12's 4th order4runner rebuild in progressclickkk meeeee!!!! 4 18's 6th orderUBL - clickyhttp://www.youtube.com/yyj11589 lots of hater kids here. 412 CVX
that's 11 square inches of port area... i don't care what alpine says, that's not enough port area. especially for their beefiest sub. Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs. My temp system build log More box buildssome cars do over 170db with one sub, so clearly my two 12"s can do that in my car, with my knowledge too! look out bitches! I'm with captain stupid. HunterJohnson
I listened to it at an 1.5" and didnt like how it sounded. Btw the type x is alpines SQ sub the type r is its beefy one Scion tC SQ BuildiPad mini, lots of fabrication, daily drivenFord Explorer C Pillar Wall Build Just a cheap car to destroy with bass
412 CVX
well at 1.5 inches it was tuned to something much higher, which is probably why you didn't like it. if the port was the right length to be tuned in the low 30's, i bet it would be louder. and the type X is beefier than the type R because of the simple fact that it's rated to take 1k rms, whereas the type R is only rated at about 600 iirc Just say no to Ground Pounder Customs. HunterJohnson
at 1.5 I'd have to make like a 33inch port the type r 12's are 500rms but yeah i meant beefier as louder. 412 CVX
a 33 inch port really isn't that long. there's a reason i charge for my designs... but i guess that's not important at this point. glad you like your box OP. i guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. irpirate
412 is right. your box is too small. port is too small. when your port was bigger you were probably tuned retardely high, hence the shitty sound. have a lot of potential to get louder with a better box. hiiiiiiii2002 4runner - buncha speakers n amps n shit (gone)1994 astro - more stuffzupdate: pretty sure all the pic links in the logs are broken lol. ma slop garb build log16 12's 4th order4runner rebuild in progressclickkk meeeee!!!! 4 18's 6th orderUBL - clickyhttp://www.youtube.com/yyj11589 lots of hater kids here.
