High pass filter on the h/u

so i know what hp and lp filters are and do . but on my head unit what is that high pass feature do ? my thought is if i set it to like 100 it sends 100 and up to everything except the sub out put ? am i correct ? and can i use this and the low pass filter on my rear speakers amp to band pass the signals ?

usually if you have a 3 rca inputs, front, rear, sub. the hpf will keep anything below that cetain number you set from playing through the front and rear, not the sub out

if you have separate sub setting/options, then the hpf wont affect the subs, but only the rear and front
