Duck's Walled Accord - 3/4/14 Nothing to see here, move along, move along

Nice progress.

Was that lighter brown harder to work with? Looks like you could pull it a bit more and get some of those wrinkles out. But I'm not sure what exactly it is and if it stretches or not.

Just $.02.

It's some stuff similar to suede. Got it at wal mart but it's a pain to work with. I made the mistake of starting at the large end of the piece and working twords the small end so i had a bunch of extra material to deal with. Next time i will start at the small end. The 3m 45 glue I used sucks terribly bad so I am going to get some 3m 90 and try again. The problem the whole time was the glue wont set up, just stays tacky and the material wants to pull away from the arm rest.

So anyway, getting some adhesive remover, better adhesive and some more material and tying again.

I also found out today that my passenger mirror is not tight and i have a slight leak where it attaches to the car. lol one thing after another.

I have heard that 3m spray adhesive is kind of a pita to work with, I personally like the Elmer's Craft Bond

  • 2 weeks later...

Made some bus bars today. 1/2" x 2" aluminum. Drilled some holes, and tapped them. Also drilled where the go on the battery terminal and put in a set screw so i could tighten them against the battery post. My batteries don't have threaded posts on them so this is what i have to do.

How are you clamping those down? With a set screw on the side? Just saw the holes on the side, probably answered my own question, but still neat to know

Yes, the set screw. But i am going to modify them, put a gap on the end and a bolt through so i can get more surface contact. I have another 3' length of aluminum on the way so i can make new ones.
