EricM9104 Posted December 11, 2007 Report Share Posted December 11, 2007 what are the symptoms of a clutch going out or the throwout bearing or something? today when my mom and i were in town, she would downshift while we were driving, i could heard a slight squeal come from the truck..... ughhh..... close to 130,000 miles.... 1997 nissan p/u, 5-speed manual, ka24e engine..... 4wd, king cab.... blah. also, i'm starting to be able to see a blueish tint to exhaust smoke..... piston rings wearing out? FCsteve Posted December 12, 2007 Report Share Posted December 12, 2007 x2 .. i ve never heard a clutch squeal, belts squeal. if her cutch was going then when she shifts she would notice the clutch not grabbing right. it would seem like she was riding the clutch in every gear. BackYardSoundZ Posted December 13, 2007 Report Share Posted December 13, 2007 Throw out bearing would be a high pitch whistle sound, which goes away when the clutch is engaged, its hard to describe but youll know what it is, and blue smoke is oil burning.
