Need advice for Mids/Highs

Recommended Posts

Righto...

Start off, I have an 06 Corolla.

So right now I have 4x Kicker KS600 6" Coaxles running off the headunit, (Pioneer DEh7500) in each door.

I'm planning on re-doing my mids/highs, but not sure what route to go.

I am gonna be cutting some holes in my parcel shelf for some 6x9's, keep in mind.

So what do you guys think I should go for with a budget of ~$600?

I can go 6.5" Splits for the front doors and 6.5" coaxles for the rear doors. (Along with the 6x9 at the back)

Ive been looking at Option Audio [ http://www.optionaudio.com/speakersPRO.php ]

Thinking of grabbing one of each pair there. I can pick them up pretty cheap off a mate who has a partnership with them or something...

Ive already decided the amp/s:

OAK75 For the doors - [ http://www.optionaudio.com/amplifiers_streetseries.php ]

And a Fusion Encounter 2ch I picked up for $40 one day Ill use for the 2 6x9's

And then I'll be running an OAK1200 along with 2 Kicker CVR 12''s, but thats another story.

I'm not sure if ive posted this in the right topic, but I thought because I'm looking for an SQ setup, this seems like a good place.

Thanks in advance guys.

Ah I didn't even see this thread until pimpin responded lol.

don't get 6x9s...just do 6.5s component sets all around. Way better. Oval speakers are horrible.

New build coming soon.

you know if you put a high pass on the 6x9s they do killer highs. thats what i did in my truck. sounds great. but as stated above, stay with 6.5s they have the best all around sound quality

Although I'm doing what pimping is doing just because I was out of money and didn't feel like waiting. But mine is set at 100hz.

cut off frequiency for your mids / mid bass drivers should be to where your sub drivers take over the lower range ...

If you cut them a 100htz, then have your subs cut a 70 htz, you are missing alot of needed frequiencies there ...

My center ch. 5.25 cuts off around 70htz ...

My component set drivers (front stage) cuts off around 40 htz ... Honnestly, during SQ competition, those run totally full range ... 20 to 20k ...

my sub drivers pick up around 50 to 70 htz ... depending on the music ... 50 htz for competition ...
