Upgrading to H/O alternator

Alright, so here's a bit of info. I've got a 2003 Chevy Cavalier that I've been planning to upgrade once I've got the money. I'm now over halfway there and got a couple different quotes for a H/O alternator. Also if you need to know, I'll be working with 2 12s in the trunk.

One source offers a H/O alternator that's a 270a bolt-in Denso Hairpin 6-phase unit. This one is $449+shipping.

The second one is a 235 and is a direct bolt on design for my vehicle that would be plug and play. Has an overdrive pulley to boost idle output so 140A @ 800 rpms. Price is $389 shipped with a lifetime warranty on labor.

Now, let's assume that the most amount of power I'd ever have hooked up in my car is a DC Audio 5.0k watt amp. Would either of these alternators be able to keep up, or would I need to go for the bigger alternator? Basically just wondering if the 235 would be good enough. I know that more is always better, but it's a $60 difference and the cheaper one comes with a lifetime warranty on labor as well as shipping cost already factored in. I'm leaning towards the 235, but how would I know the maximum amount of power in watts that I'd be able to run with it?

Also, forgot to add but for batteries I'd be adding either a single XP3000 or two of them depending on how much power I do decide to give the subs. Don't know if this info is needed, but better safe than sorry!

May be true, may not be true Just didn't want this to be about one brand vs. another, wanted to actually know if the lower one would be able to handle what I'm planning

Honestly, I don't know. I could probably email them back about it if that info is necessary but I don't think I'll be blasting music much while sitting still.

You do more then you think. Sucks if you have to rev every time you aren't moving if you don't have to. Love my dc xp for that very reason.

That's very true I suppose. So then just by going off of the idle output of the 235 alternator, is there any way to tell how many watts that'd be able to support?

I figured somebody would say this, but honestly I'm really digging the free lifetime warranty on the 235. Which is why I'm trying to figure out the maximum amount of wattage that it'd be able to support

Where exactly are you shopping for alternators at.

whys everyone gotta know the brand of his alts.. 235amp alt will do about 2k by itself.. with a good AGM batt you could get 3k or so with minimal voltage drop
