Seeing as pioneer and the jbl go for the same price it wouldnt be a noticeable difference between the two on same power? or just go with the pioneer.

Consider these. American Bass SQ-65M and VFL-65MB

ya, if you hate midbass and want to find your own tweeters and crossovers.

If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.

Going to be running 100rms each at 4 ohms. Here are the ones I'm really considering...

-Image Dynamics ctx65cs

-Rockford t1652-s

-Alpine SPR-60C

-Polk Audio DB6501

Any thoughts? Im leaning towards the rockfords right now but not positive those are the ones.

I listen to hip hop and classic rock mainly. I want them to be able to get loud but still sound alright.

I have the last gen Type R 6.5 comp's and 6.5 coax in one vehicle I own.(SPR-17S & SPR-17C) I have been very happy with them. Mid bass is very good. The silk tweeters are pretty decent also and are not too bright or as harsh. I am running each speaker off a PDX-4.100. I have compared them to the Type X, and I can say I prefer the Type R. The tweeter is smoother, and the woofers seem to have punchier bass. I have not had a chance to try out the new Neo Type R. The new crossovers look a little bit "less" than the older ones.

I also have ID XS-65's in the front and CTX-69 in the rear of another vehicle I own. These are powered by a Alpine PDX-F6. I love the XS speakers. The mid driver is not as punchy and doesn't reach quite as low as the Alpines do, however I prefer the overall sound stange with the XS speakers. At first the tweeters were pretty bright, but the crossovers are very flexible and after some playing around with them I got them dialed in "perfect" in my opnion. The CTX in the rear look pretty tough, however with the 6x9 in the rear door location in my particular vehicle, I had to do some eq'ing to get them right. 200-400hz seems to boost a lot with my setup. It made a lot of rock/heavy metal music (i.e. Metallica) sound weird, muddy, until I got it straightened out.

All of that being said, I know this is not apples to apples, but owning both brands has allowed me to appreciate both the Alpine and ID for their strengths. I go back and fourth on which one I prefer, they are both good.

I don't think you can go wrong either way. I would say with what you are looking to spend, I would not consider the RF or Polks. Between the CTX and Type R, I think I would go with the Type R. You won't be dissapointed. However, if you can afford to upgrade to the ID CXS, you are going to get a far better crossover network, and tweeter.

Don't know if this helps, but figured I'd throw it out there.

BTW, Just saw that woofersetc still has the SPR-17S speakers available. From everything I can see, the old is better than the new.
