Emmet
clipping is when you drive an amplifier too hard. aka try to make it output more power than it was designed to. aka turning up the volume/gain knob too high. thats how speakers blow 99% of the time. oh well then i have another problem but thanks. mines like my HU cant handle power so speakers start popping and shit and ya. doesnt sound good then but they not meant to handle to much bass like i give them even on stock power Speakers start popping? That is probably clipping like kranny said... your driving it into distortion... Within reason it doesnt really matter how much power they`re getting, if its a dirty signal they wont like it... Quote i shook this one kids hand and it just folded in mine. long story short i fucked his girlfriendso.. yeah.. You want this to happen to you? Give decent handshakes people. sprkn_ranger
Yes...the head unit has a built in amp in it. And to stop it from clipping, turn the volume down, turn off bass boost, turn off "loud", turn the bass level down. If its not loud enough for you with all that off then it's time to upgrade equipment. stroupe79
you have your bass up too high..and your turning the HU volume up too high..causing distortion..that's why its clipping and blowing the speakers I am currently just running mids/highs off HU like you...my HU goes to 35 max volume...I cant go past 22/35 right now without noticeable distortion..so I wont take my volume over 20/35 to avoid risk of damaging the speakers...I am just going by ear as I have yet to put my 4channel/sub stages in yet.. like ranger is saying..turn off bass boost.."loud" and turn your bass and treble down.. sprkn_ranger
I'm not sure if it's a good head unit or not, I've never used jvc before. But the loud is doing NO good at all. I have a kenwood kdc x895 running my stock speakers in my car and am very pleased with how it sounds. But you have to remember that your only goin to get so much with the equipment you have weather it be stock speakers or real high end component sets. Everything has their limits and capabilitys. KiKaZz74
Ok thanks but what exactly does loud do? To me it seems it gives more bass and just makes it louder overall Quote My SPL to SQ Build Log Vehicle:1997 Dodge Dakota Ext Cab 4x4 2009 Dodge Journey SXT5.2L V8 Magnum 3.5L V6 Stock AltEquipment: Headunit- Alpine CDE-147BT Mids/Highs Amp- JL Audio G6600 Class AB 6 Channel Sub Amp- Hifonics BRZ1700.1D @ 2 Ohms Taramps DSP3000.1D Sub- Hertz Hi Energy 12" HX300D SounDrive SDA3 12 Tweeters- Rockford Fosgate Power Series Silk Domes Hertz Hi-Energy Mids- Dayton Audio Reference 4" Full Range Drivers Midbass- Silver Flute 6.5" Hertz Hi-Energy 6.5" Processor- MiniDSP 2x4 RCA- 6 channels of SounDrive HF series Wire- EB Flex 2/0 -Member of Team SounDrive
