jrchevy87
Good for 300 amps at what run? Ive done the voltage drop tests. 250 and ill run another 1/0 run. My bad i stand corrected i was looking at a shorter run Jeep Wrangler TJ Hardtop Build
Ray
Pick up both pieces. Looks maybe but copper is like 2x the weight Just do it right once, instead of shitty multiple times. Ask around, tons of people will say the same thing. Actually spend less money doing it correct once. 2008 California state record holder 157.2 Bassrace2009 California state record holder 157.0 BassraceRollin 50's 158.7db2009 King of Cali Bassrace2009 USACi score 160.5 @ 42hz
Bump4life
^^ yea exactly what im thinking. if 1 OFC run = about 2 CCA runs? correct? maybe a lil less than 2. then price is equal. plus then i only have hassle of concealing 1 run instesad of 2 and leave room for upgradign later. thanks again! snafu
Well this "know it all" says that calculator is pretty nifty. One should always shoot for less than 3% voltage drop in any circuit. Keep in mind that a 17' run to the amplifiers with a 3 foot ground to the frame in the rear and then a 2.5 foot ground from frame to battery up front = 22.5 feet, assuming the frame has ZERO resistance, which it doesn't. In order to be fair, one should always use 50% of the maximum current requirements of the amplifier(s) as a rough idea of how much current will be required when reproducing music. That can be calculated as follows: Actual RMS Power / efficiency at operating impedance / desired operating voltage / 2 IE - 1,000 Watts RMS / 75% eff / 14.4 VDC / 2 = 46.30 Amps If you play sine waves or your collection of music has the word "Bass" in every album title this will be higher . . . Ray
They dont wanna see that when using a 2000 watt amp and using a single run of 1/0 that you lose over .9 just in the wire run at 17ft. Ill do some cool tests soon 2008 California state record holder 157.2 Bassrace2009 California state record holder 157.0 BassraceRollin 50's 158.7db2009 King of Cali Bassrace2009 USACi score 160.5 @ 42hz
