StatingROBIN
Im about to purchase hids for my car. Do i need a higher k bulb for my high beams than my low beams or do the different types of bulbs make them brighter? The ones im getting are the DDM Tuning 55 watt slim ballast kit. nautical7
The "k" is just the light output. The higher you go the less light output it will really have and will have more of a blue tint. IMO, anything after 6k is going to be less lighting and get a bluer tint until you really get up there. Here's a chart for reference, more are available if you google "HID color chart". NightmareImpala
No. get same color temperature as low beams. I wouldnt even get hids for high beams IMO. Stick with 5000k if you want them as bright as possible. The higher you go up on the color scale the less light output (lumens) you see. MrBalll
Make sure whatever housing you are putting the 55Watt bulbs into can handle it. They do get hot enough to melt the housing, so watch that.
Kranny
hid high beams are COMPLETELY pointless unless you live in butt fuck nowhere with roads that have no street lights for miles around. 55w low beams will be brighter than your stock high beams anyway.
