Looking for a bit of room from the sub enclosure guru's on the forum for a rebuild I'm working on. We are using 2 of the older style fully loaded BTL 15's that have the large flat "ufo style" magnets. The trunk in this car is very uneven and goes upward leading into the car, I'm going to post some pictures. The rough area of space I have to work with is about 46" between the trunk hinges, after you come out about 4-5" the Width of the trunk area we have is 55". The Depth is about 33-35" and we are trying to keep the height at about 15" or below. . I wanted to build it subs up, port firing into the cabin through I cut out that is where your back would be if we were keeping back seats. Here are the T/S parameters for the subs. Thanks in advance for any input and if anybody wants more pictures or measurements or anything let me know I can e-mail some. I want it tuned low because we listen to a lot of Southern Hip Hop in the car and would love to move some air. We plan on using 1" all the way around.

Yah no back seats. We're building the amp rack sort of like the rear seats. 6 amps total with 1 or 2 of his 3100's. Theres a lot of overall space back there, the problem is the trunk isn't even at any spot and has that major slope towards the back seats. The reason why I was leaning towards subs up is that I can't figure a way to have the port and subs on the same side and I was hoping to direct as much of the pressure as possible into the cabin through that opening we have there. So thats why I was thinking subs up towards the rear of the trunk and port towards that opening going into the car. We had subs up port back before and it hit like crazy but I feel like there is room for more the port wasn't that big.

Ok now I'm leaning towards to facing the woofers and port all into the cabin. I'm just trying to figure out how I'm going to be able to run the ports with that area of the trunk taking such a steep incline upwards to the rear seat area.

Here is a suggestion. hope you have 16 1/8"H (0.75 wood could help with the height), also you may have to build inside the trunk, lastly you need 9" of free airspace in front of the port.

Enclosure Specifications:

Fb = 34 Hz

Vb = 9.391 ft^3

External Height = 16.125 in

External Width = 46 in

External Depth = 35 in

Port Width = 9 1/2 in

Cut Sheet List:

* All Dimensions in Inches.

* Wood Thickness is 1 for all Parts.

External Enclosure Parts:

2 x Front & Back (3 parts) = 46 x 16 1/8

Left & Right Sides = 32 x 14 1/8

Top & Bottom = 46 x 32

Shared Port Internal Assembly Parts:

2 x Front to Back = 17 x 14 1/8

Most likely it will need mods, let me know any comments.

Beautiful design. There are some issues though. First off the Max height I have is 15" towards the back of the trunk by the license plate because it slopes down. At the front of the trunk right before that upward slope you see is about 16". All the dips and slopes is what's making this design a pain in the ass. So maybe this paints a more clear picture in between the trunk hinges there is 46" across. How ever once you clear the wheel well, about 6-7" you have 62" across the opening of the trunk. I'm going to post a picture of the old box so you get an idea of the shape the trunk is. In this picture you can see the depth is about 29" 536345_392073227483083_300090170014723_1443007_1208544093_n.jpg

the second depth from the end of the wheel well to the back of the trunk is "22 542981_392073310816408_300090170014723_1443009_2026795665_n.jpg

Thanks a lot for your help. I've been considering building the box all the way to the back and firing the port and woofers forward into the cabin since we have that big opening there.

For a design such as the one i left you, if using 0,75 wood height could be reduced to 15 5/8", don't worry I knew that wouldn't be final.

Since a simple box is best try to figure out your max dims at 15 5/8" height.
