Smoke from subs...

Recommended Posts

So I was at my boys house today he wanted to show me his setup he just got... Well he set gains using my dd1 after playing full tilt for a min our so he seen smoke come from port and cut music right away... Does he got anything to worry about? The subs bang just fine after awhile he is curious about it as I am...

when you say "full tilt" do you mean the volume turned all the way up or set to dd1 max?

regardless, dd1 will tell you how to set your gains. it does not compensate for subs in the wrong enclosure

or, did you set gains with -10db and then play something with -1db bass?

add possibly this

isn't track 5 a 1k tone at -10db?

i think it 1k 0db, 40hz 0db, 1k -5db, 40hz -5db, 1k -10db, 40hz -10db.

so reset the gains with track 3, 40hz at -5db.

sub amps use the 40hz tone with xovers and eq's off, mid and stuff use the 1k tones.
