KickerKid58 Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 On the way home from work yesterday for some reason my system sounded like it was barely even on. Ripped everything out today, Subs seem fine, all voice coils reading correct resistance. But something happened to the amp. I didn't hear anything pop or blow or anything of that nature. wired one sub up to the amp at two ohms and heres what it was with everything turned off Car/radio on with no music playing. music playing a signal is making it through the speaker it is just very very weak. Anyone know what is causing these huge fluctuations in resistance? Or if it is something that can be replaced/fixed? here is a picture of the amp. I can take some more zoomed in pics if someone notes where to look edit-- oops heres the last pic 06 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2 DC Level4 12" Soundstream TA1.3000d 4 RF Punch 6.5" Components 2 RF Punch 3.5" 2-ways RF Prime 400.4D XS Power XP950 +&-run of XScorpion 1/0 OFC My Civic Build

KickerKid58 Posted April 19, 2012 Author Report Posted April 19, 2012 How old are they? I knew it was old but the guy i bought it from was running it at half ohm daily so i was hoping it'd be sturdy enough to last me awhile at 1 ohm... yet again who knows.. 06 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2 DC Level4 12" Soundstream TA1.3000d 4 RF Punch 6.5" Components 2 RF Punch 3.5" 2-ways RF Prime 400.4D XS Power XP950 +&-run of XScorpion 1/0 OFC My Civic Build

KickerKid58 Posted April 19, 2012 Author Report Posted April 19, 2012 from what i have seen everyone has thought they are/were pretty solid amps (no pun intended lol) from your experience with them would you think its worth investing some money to repair it? I paid $300 for it. 06 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2 DC Level4 12" Soundstream TA1.3000d 4 RF Punch 6.5" Components 2 RF Punch 3.5" 2-ways RF Prime 400.4D XS Power XP950 +&-run of XScorpion 1/0 OFC My Civic Build

Noobtastic14 Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 is the protect circuit tripped? Check your input voltage. If it is getting less in, it will put less out and still be working perfectly fine. -Drew I am a United States Military Arts and Crafts Professional. kirill007 Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 Instead of measuring the impedance which seems normal according to your pictures. That's how a amp works. Measure the AC voltage coming out of the amp, be sure to measure AC voltage or you won't get a reading at all. Thinking is the root of all problems... You ALWAYS get what you pay for.
