Got told this is how you wire your back batteries

Okay I called Ohio Gen to get a price quote on an alternator for my car (Never got one, apparently their computers were down 2 days ago and he's struggling to get everyone's orders)...but we ended up talking for a bit, he started rambling how good his company is and such and then he told me this is the correct way to wire a system for proper charging of all batteries. Is this true or is he bullshitting?

You'd put a bus bar on the back three batteries and then you'd put the positive from the starter battery on to the first battery and then you ground off your last battery.

Not completely Wrong but, for the most part it would work.

What you need to understand is that in order for the alternator to charge it needs a complete circuit thus, the positive and ground wire. Now, personally I would run multiple runs back and forth depending on charging needs. However, just to charge the batteries the above diagram will do that but, it is not for optimal charging but if your current draws is not that demanding it will be fine.

true or you can use 4/0 to connect the batteries. and neg. battery to neg battery. You do it just like you do a amp.get it. also think about a battery isolator.

Okay, for some strange reason I thought you'd want to run a wire from the alt to the back batteries as well..but he said that it'd be improper charging to the starter battery.

So you'd run multiple positives from the starter battery to the back batteries?

-Just trying to get things straight here before I get started. I'm going to be running 3,000rms through my vehicle on a OHIO GEN alternator or Singer alt. I haven't gotten a price quote from Ohio yet.

If you were running mult alts then you would run mult wires back to back bank but if just one alt then as long as the wire is big enough one will be just fine from alt to starter bat to back bank. And if your grounds are good to the frame or unibody then that diagram is good to go. just make sure ALL your contact points are clean and dielectric grease cuts down on corrosion mixing metals together like copper wire to brass to lead ect. I don't know about the max amperage a frame can ground but I don't think 300ish would be too much.

Later if you add a second alt... run it straight back. Oh and if you can ground your alt to frame that is a good thing too. It's all about wire size vs the amperage you want to send down them.

3000w rms should = 300amps ish..... make sure your wires and connection points can handle that to the back bank from the alt and you'll be fine.

Alright, thanks.

It's two separate amplifiers... ones a 2k rms amp and the other is a 4 channel 1k rms amp I believe...but I'll only be pushing 500rms
