BassJunkie Posted December 21, 2007 Report Posted December 21, 2007 I've built a computer before, but I've never upgraded a processor on a bought pc. The computer: A dell 2300 dimension desktop. The problem, dumbass friend yanked it out put it in the wrong way bent the pins. Wants a new processor, same or better, but wants better. How do I find out what the socket type is? It doesnt say on the processor or the mobo... Will the dell accept a better processor if its the same socket type or will it conflict with the bios? Btw it was a 1.8 P4 processor. AI James Posted December 21, 2007 Report Posted December 21, 2007 look up the dell model number, you should be able to find something it sounds like socket 754 or 755 somethign like that thoguh, and i wouldnt try to put a better processor as its a pain to get bios updates for preinstalled comps Quote
