ghostismyname
Ok so on my way to work today my truck stalled on me. Rpms dropped real low twice and then dropped to zero and vehicle stalled. I just recently upgraded my batt to a yellowtop, did most of the big 3 in 1/0. Did i fry my alt?
01ExSport
Did it start up after that at all? Just had to replace my alt in my escort a few months back. I guess the usual signs are tach not moving or spiking everywhere, eventually your airbag light will stay on (>8v i think it triggers?), and my speedometer stood still. Check battery voltage with a dmm, and if you're truck started up again, i;d check if you power wire possibly grounded to the alt case for a second. P4killer_
check simple stuff first like the fact that the battery cables are properly connected and tightened.. coulda just ran out battery power.. other wise if you just put the yellow top in your car and it was sitting low voltage.. putting dead or drained batts in your car and letting the alt charge em up puts a huge strain on the alt, and yea they def get burned up like that. just make sure your connections are good first. its easiest fix hopefully thats all it is Setup: 2010 Hyundai Elantra Factory Unit via 4 chan NVX LOC Excessive Amperage "H/O" Alt Xs D3400/ Xs XP3000 Big 3. 2 Runs of +, 2 Runs of - DD M3b and 2 12" AQ HDC4s
