1994 Volvo 940 Project (WITH SOME ROCKFORD FOSGATE AND DC AUDIO!)

So just picked up my new car as my stratus failed inspection and the sticker is only good till the end of may. I ended up buying a 1994 Volvo 940. Car only cost me a grand and has 155k on it and for its age it is in amazing condition. Biggest thing wrong with it was it needs a new exhaust which only costs like $200 and I can do my self. On of the big deciding factors in buying this was my dad have owned two of these so far and got both to 300k+ miles each before he sold them so we already know how to fix just about anything and have many common parts for them.

So here is a picture of the car just to start everything out.

The first things I'm planning on installing are my two sets of RF 1652-s component speakers (front roods and back deck) which will be powered by my RF P400.4 and my Kenwood kdc-794 deck. I also would like to eventually add in two DC audio 12" lvl4s powered by a t2500bdCP and i would like to lower the car about two inches all around

Go to ipd.com to get lowering springs and you can also get some nice R wheels already machined to fit onto the 940/740 hubs. Im a volvo tech and a close friend of mine is also a volvo tech and has a 740 wagon lowered murdered out and his brother has a blue 740 lowered with big sway bars and some 17" wheels. Im trying to convince both to ditch there current systems and go big. Where is your exhaust leak?

I've actually been looking at doing the Bilstein touring class shocks and struts alond with the idb sport springs. have you heard anything about this combo?

As for my exhaust it was leaking just before the second muffler but it actually broke off where it was leaking when i banged it pulling it up in to my barn  . something i will never attempt once lowered

Nice car :P Dc 18s would go nice with this.

if only i had the room :( wanted two so back when i had the expedition then everything possible in that car broke yet i still managed to sell it for 800 bucks. reverse was pretty much the only thing that worked in that pos.

I just finished ripping apart the back seat to start putting in my rear deck speakers. pics will be up soon. im also going to a local U-Pull it. lets hope i can find a new moonroof switch and some sleek OEM volvo rims.

He is not running the bilstiens in either, but they both ride coo for being lowered. Get the touring, the HD rides like shit. If your going to the wrecking yard, see if you can find the 16" turbo wheels for 940/740 http://www.ipdusa.com/products/4947/112610-ipd-sport-springs-740-940-sedan-models these are the wheels i would look for.

Cant fit 18's in the trunk. We had a 15 Cvx in there, but like I said im trying to convince them to change it up. We were talking about doing 2 12" havocs or see maybe doing 15" havocs. He already has a 220amp alt.But he is bullshittin

yeah I have been planning on the tourings cause I have read nothing but good things on them well creeping other forums. The link you sent me keeps opening up the the sport springs and i cant seem to find the rims you mentioned on their site but i would love to get something like the 1993 940 rims www.wheelsandcaps.com/images_all/ALY70170U.jpg

I wish I would have known you years ago. My first car was a 1988 Volvo 740 station wagon. Still have it, the thing's a tank. 188,000 miles. The only problem is the acceleration is iffy at random times...

Looking forward to this build! It should be pretty impressive!

:WTFBubble:

Stop with this post dumping, ignorant bullshit kid.

OP... Plan out roughly how much weight you're gonna have back there before you decide to drop it. Don't want to see you drop it 2.5 inches, then throw your equipment in there and have the rear end riding frame lol. I speak from experience... My ass end is hanging LOW due to a 2 inch drop all the way around, plus about 300lbs+ in the trunk. Grinded through 2 exhaust systems FTL lol

thank you very much. I cant wait to get the ball rolling. I grew up with both my parents having 240s then both later on buying 940s so once i found this there was no way i could say no. going to give this build 200% because this car is not going to look like an old junker if i can do anything about it.
