voltage issues

I have a 2000 oldsmobile alero

recently ive been getting voltage drop at idle and low rpms drops down to about 14 volts at idle, hit the gas and it jumps back up to 14.7-15 volts.

It just started doing this and the weird thing is it only does it after the cars warmed up and at normal operating temperature.

i checked all my batts and there all good.

Sounds to me like a regulator or something inside your alt is going bad...

Like he said, could be your alt going bad, just happened to me the other day on way to work, rpms dropped while driving twice, and then ran outta juice, take your alt out and get it tested at a local autozone or other parts store.

What's the problem? you are way above float charge so I don't get the issue.

Because the almost two years ive had this alt its never done this & there has been moments where it drops to middle-lower 13volts which is where.my batts would be resting.

Have you trained your bats to rest at that voltage?

and voltage fluctuates, the reason you see a lower voltage when the car is warm is because your batteries have been charged up after starting the car. If you see it sit in the LOW 13s and hesitate to climb you may have an issue.

when my car is warm and I'm in drive at a stop light the RPMs are too low and the alt turns off, returns right back when it starts rolling

Yeh I understand this but something had to happened to just start happening after 2 years, sometimes when im slowing down it will flucuate like crazy.

Its always been at 14.5 at the.least no matter how hot or what rpms now im seeing 13.8 to 14.2 on average at idle, and its usually worse with a load like the ac.

put my stock alt back in and was much worse was dropping down to mid 12s as i slowed down so im rulling the alt out.

voltage is the same at the alt as the amps, and i have double checked all connections.

im pretty confused right about now :/ crappy voltage ftl
