zero6391
U mean the head liner would be able to hold the wood with the weight of two amps and all the wires? My head liner is a bit old is there any other options to mounting a board securely? Oh by the way I get that concern about heat a lot but I have a cooling system in mind to take the heat away from the amps Pioneer AVH-X5500BHS, (2) Rockford Fosgate T400-4, (4) Rockford Fosgate T1652-S Component Sets, (1) Rockford Fosgate T1500-1BDCP, (1) Rockford Fosgate T2D415 in a ported box (5.5cu. ft. tuned @ 37Hz), (1) Optima Yellow Top under hood, (1) Shuriken 80 amp batt in the back, 2 runs 0 AWG OFC Rockford Fosgate wire, Big 3 upgrade on front and back battery, Stock Altenator (90 amps), RF RCA's, Kicker 12AWG OFC speaker wire, Stinger roadkill sound deadner all over the inside of the car
n8ball2013
You can bolt them throgh the roof and get one o fthose cool euro roof racks to hide it. You will have to make a base. If you can weld you can do it that way but will have to paint. If you want it to look stock good luck you'll be fabbing an entire new headliner. zero6391
Lol no I don't want a cool euro roof rack. But I thought about welding but seems a little to demanding. My recent thoughts have been to mount to brace bars that curve with the ceiling and connect to the upper seatbelt bolts and then mount the wood to those braces.... What do u think??? 87chevyboi
you have to take your headliner down, and measure the distance between your headliner where you are going to put a piece of 7/16 mayb half inch board in there youll have to find a way to mount it to your roof, i normally make 1 inch by 2 or 3 inch pieces of metal about 6 or 7 per side depending on the application and use about an 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch and pop rivet it to the bars that are coming off your roof that are made to "hold your roof up". Then stick the board in there and mount it to the metal pieces and put your headliner up. Make sure you dont put a screw in that will go thru your roof and for most cars i would not recomend 1/4 inch thick metal its kind of thick but do what you must to get it up there. Ive held 2 25" flip downs about 6 inches apart from each other so i know it can hold some weight the way i do it. Bump4life
almost all amps cool better when upside down. there are a few exceptions. you ever wonder why you have to take the bottom of amp off to see the inside? why would you want all the heat rising up through your board instead of out and away from your board. n8ball2013
actually you have to take the top off because the board is mounted to the heatsink. Remember heat rises. If your amp is upside down you will not cool as well as you would if it was mounted right side up THERE IS NO BUILD LOG! 1998 Chevy Silverado ext cab Alpine CDA-9887 4 Team Fi 15s 2 Ampere Audio TFE 8.0 2 Ampere Audio 150.4 3 Digital Designs CS6.5 component sets Dual Mechman 370XP Elite alternators inbound! 8 XS Power d3400 6 XS power d680 Second Skin Stinger Tsunami Wiring Sky High A Real Voltmeter not a piece of shit stinger. RCP Audio
I see people using all thread and nuts to make amp racks. If you could fasten some of them somehow to the roof you would be able to mount the amps up the right way? if your concerned about heat but i know you mentioned you have a plan for cooling tuned in to see what you come up with PSN: Rcp_soundz Good rule of thump is go by what fuse size is being used in these amps. The higher the more amperage it pulls, this is what I look at. I'll stick a 300 amp fuse in a potato and sell it to you for $2k. 1991 Mazda 323VERY small build thread here: http://www.stevemead...23-small-build/
