dbslayerdrake Posted April 27, 2012 Report Share Posted April 27, 2012 Okay do I just got my subwoofer in and I have been trying to break it in but I guess I got a little reckless with it and it just cut out but i smelled the port and everything and and it doesn't smell or smoke like its blown but when I push on it it is SUPER stiff can someone please tell me what is wrong and if it's fixable. If it wont budge when you press down on the cone, you have unwound the coil in the gap. This is caused by extreme clipping and heating up the coil so fast that the epoxy fails and the windings let go from the former. Oh and recones are cheaper than fixing a blown amp.
