Wicks
Absolutely. Hope it helps. Just be careful cause when you do the altering, if you start smelling exhaust in the cabin, youll know you need time changeable. Those vents also hello keep exhaust fumes out of the car as well as vent it out. Definitely! I'm envisioning a tunnel-type setup like Meade's Lexus where air is drawn from one vent and pushed out through the other. All sealed up in the back of the trunk. Plus the fact that I'll be trying to seal the trunk from the cabin anyway to keep the energy focused in the car and away from vibrating the trunk lid. I've been thinking of a way too stop my door panels from rattling, the stock clips allow too much play. Those threaded rivets look promising!!! Thanks for sharing that! No problem, I was looking around a lot for something like this so I'm happy to spread the word on a great product. How's the troubleshooting/repair on the Alpine HU going? I'd like to see that thing back in action. it sounds good in person. loud. got room to get louder for sure! Thanks for the help with the meter and all the advice. Let's hope I can squeeze out a few more dB's when I seal err up...and add my second XP3000 in the trunk! If not, I have a BUNCH more cosmetic goodies comin' up... scooter99
SWEET! You and me both my man! Well I don't have the fridays off, but I get my car back tomorrow so it's building time for me too! Although I'm in the works on a slight change. But I'm not going to let it hold me up. I'll move on as planned for now and if it happens, I'll detour then! Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
conceptM
I had the same problem with a Kenwood head unit 10 years ago. My ground of the amp wasn't thourough enough and the amp pulled some ground over the RCA's. These are pretty thin on the radio board and burned and caused a humming sound. I'm not saying you have the same problem, but worth checking out before you install the repaired radio. Since I've learned ground is ultra important. Cool build and nice car! Wicks
So I spoke a little too soon. The threaded insert tool is a great idea...but the saying "You get what to pay for..." is very much in effect. The tool worked great for the small 8-32 inserts. Well, today I tried the larger 1/4-20 inserts. This tool went down faster than a Twinkie in front of a fat kid... Pretty much screwed up the flow of my afternoon building progress... In my excitement of getting a neat new tool, I overlooked examining the very flimsy hinging mechanism that this tool uses. The metal that its made of is extremely soft and the whole tool basically just fell apart. So I hit up the internetz and found a beefier one and sent off my order. I'll try it out a bit more before I give my approval again. Ahhh these wonderful setbacks. I'll move on as planned for now and if it happens, I'll detour then! Good news! Can't wait to see what you got cookin'. No worry's, I've changed up my gameplan a bit during the build. Gotta roll wit' the punches. I had the same problem with a Kenwood head unit 10 years ago. My ground of the amp wasn't thourough enough and the amp pulled some ground over the RCA's. Since I've learned ground is ultra important. Cool build and nice car! Thanks for the comment With all the HU swapping I've done lately I'm sure that was the culprit in blowing the fuse. With my massive buss bar in the trunk I should have plenty of grounding for the amp. Plus the double 0/2ga welding cables going to the amp. Love cnc machined stuff! Lookin good! Now lets see it get installed! CNC? Speaking of machining stuff.........I've been talking with Toolmaker.
