mortenmoulder
Hey SMD forums. I've bought a 15" 1500w subwoofer, and a 1200w 4ch amp. On the power side I've got GND, REM and B+. I hooked up minus to GND, and REM&B+ to plus (connected together). I get a good sound from my subwoofer, which is connected to channel 3 & 4 bridged, but whenever I turn up the volume, I get a crackle sound. Like the amp can't handle the subwoofer. I got that busted by hooking up the amp to a smaller 400w subwoofer, and it had the same problem. On the amp I've got these settings: Gain about 60%. L.P.F about 90 Hz H.P.F about 80 Hz Crossover on L.P.F 0dB treble Super Bass 0dB Could it be a wire problem? When I try to set plus to just B+ (leaving REM empty) it doesn't power on, and when I try to set plus to REM (leaving B+ empty) it doesn't power on. It only powers on when I put REM and B+ on plus, and GND on minus... Can anyone help me out? Please don't flame me, this is my first post, and I thought this would be a good place to ask Thanks in advance, Morten Edited May 13, 2012 by mortenmoulder
ChevyBoy95
gain is probably too high. B+ is your 12v constant, like positive from the battery Rem is remote, which tells your amp WHEN to turn on B+ and REM are two completely different things, you need both for the amp to turn on. REM or the remote comes off the back of the headunit and is usually blue with a white stripe. B+ or battery positive (12v) comes from the battery Edited May 13, 2012 by ChevyBoy95 Quote Best Score to Date : 160.5 dB Outlaw (47Hz)[4 XM 15's & 2 Taramps Bass 12k's] BL : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/147800-chevyboy95s-4-15s-7krms-wall-1533-db-on-half-power/YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/hitemwiththeflex/

ChevyBoy95
the only thing, if he has the + and remote connected together, makes me think this is in his home. Yes, you're right about that. This is in my home, for testing it. When I move it to my car, I'll hook it up as it should be.
ChevyBoy95
then you need to wire the B+ and REM together if you have no headunit in your home. what are you running the amp off of? a battery? a battery and a charger? etc? edit: i would keep the gain as LOW as possible since you dont have probably remotely enough current to supply the amp. And cranking the gain is not something you should do to compensate if it doesnt get loud. I already wired the REM and B+ together And I'm running it off a battery eliminator that looks nearly like this: http://hauntmasterproducts.com/photos/131.jpg The only change, is that there's no 9V battery plug, it's just 2 non isulated cables. OrionStang
You're running your amp plugged right into the wall? I don't see this ending well, on a few fronts. Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
Jessica
that wall plug you are using is probably 500ma and that amp probably pulls 3A at idle. Wild guess, that may be your problem. how is it even working?! Quote Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside.
