how to calculate

Recommended Posts

basics of a 4th is a sealed enclosure firing into a ported chamber (generally tuned very high). A 6th order is a ported enclosure (tuned low) firing into a ported Chamber (tuned high) Most people use a standard 2:1 ratio of chamber size being twice the size of the enclosure.

Figure out how many subs you want total.

8 per side as you said above.

Find the specs of the sub and the recommended enclosure size, multiply that by 8.

So if the subs call for 3 cubes per sub, it would be:

3ft^ x 8subs = 24ft^

when running common chamber that isnt exactly true.

I was just throwing a ballpark estimate out there. If you have any further info, please explain Hugh! That's why I referred him to Ray or 412, because I'm not an expert at this by any means lol

I haven't dealt with or built or tried to design any 4th orders

they are interesting beasts. they can get huge depending on what your doing with them. the 4th order in my pt cruiser goes from the front seats to the back glass, and its only got 2 15's in it.

I did experiment with one design, then realized how monstrous it was gonna be and how hard it would be to successfully fit one in my trunk, so I scrapped the Idea.

ill believe it when i see it. i cant see someone spending that much money on that much discontinued equipment. you do realize your talking about $24,000 of subs (which you cant get spares for anymore) and $19,000 of amplifiers that arent made anymore.
