Breedwell Posted May 25, 2012 Report Posted May 25, 2012 Hey guys, quick question for those who might have an idea: I bought a car (2002 Civic DX) recently that had been equiped with a Panasonic deck (older), a Sony Xplod XM-DS1600P5 single channel amp, and two Audiobahn 12"s in a box in the trunk. For a while they had been working well for their quality, but recently the overall bass output has gone down. I'd say the subs now put out about 75-80% what they used to. I feel like my amp is the reason behind this decline as I know how to work the radio deck, none of the wires have been tampered with, and I didn't touch any settings on the amp itself. Any ideas as to what the problem might be? Eventually I want to sell/replace the Audiobahn with some better subs (Alpine, maybe DC) and upgrade the amp, so if you guys think my amp is dying or something I'll just deal until I save up enough money. It used to be good enough to vibrate the seat quite a bit, and I couldn't see out of my rearview mirror at all. Granted, that could also be my body adjusting to the music, but I still question the integrity of the xplod amp. lol. time to upgrade Yeah I know, I need to see if I can find a couple of good subwoofers. I remember being told to get a specific amp brand before, just gotta go look at my old posts and see which brand that was. Audioque. On the to-get list. I've never actually done any car audio work, I'll have to potentially make a mini-log if/when I upgrade. So much to learn...
