xh3mpx
I just picked up this amp. its an alpine Mrp m1000. I have it powering Two 15" SVC 4ohm Fosgates. I have the subs wired to 2ohm. Positives and negatives ran together.. the amp specs are RMS Power Rating: 4 ohms: 600 watts x 1 chan. 2 ohms: 1000 watts x 1 chan But when I play it at 3/4 volume the amp gets hot to the touch. and the bass seems weaker.. what can I do..? xh3mpx
my Gain is half way at "NOM" and Bass boost is at 10db and as far as electrical, I have 4ga power and ground wires, and as for the "big 3 " upgrade.. I couldnt afford 0gauge.. So I used some of the left over 4gauge..
01ExSport
I'd turn bass boost down and use a dmm to set your gain if you don't have access to a scope/dd-1. Had an m2000 and it was always pretty darn cold, so it's most likely settings on your amp or a wiring issue.

Bump4life
turn off bass boost, set gain right. do not clip. a good starting point is using a DMM if you don't have DD 1 and going off of AC votage comin gout of outputs based on nominal impedence you have it wired too. look in amp manual. if you dont have it is online. look what votage it says to set it to. a lot of the time it is ok. but if you hear anything wierd then turn it down. with low frequencies its hard to tell if your clipping until you are clipping way too much. also check your cars voltage when it hits. you may need to upgrade your electrical.
