poorfish88 Posted June 2, 2012 Report Posted June 2, 2012 I don't think people think JL doesn't bang, I think they think it's just ridiculously overpriced I agree, way way back I had 2 JL Micro subs that sounded nice in my S10 reg cab. Good little subs just way overpriced, they were still in the truck when I sold it. They must have been 15 years old and still going strong.

beaker Posted June 2, 2012 Report Posted June 2, 2012 I have 2 JL 12w6's on a Slash 1000/1v2 amp (got them for free) in a Mercedes 190e I will say the SQ is REALLY good. (the box they're in isnt as good as it could be) Volume wise, I've heard louder from a single 10 on 300 watts.

And if it was over powered that is user error and NOT JL's fault. jl 10w0v3/4: Recommended RMS Amplifier Power 75 - 300 W kendwood kac 8402: 90x4 rms w (btw thats at max gain with perfect 4 ohm load) playing music not even turned up and it just stopped...looked at it and it was frozen...(second jl i ever owned) apologies i have an edit to make, their amps are great amps. but still, the prices of ANY of their products is a complete turn-off to the point where i wont even use the equipment they put out. once again agreed but i sure as hell wouldnt turn it down it it was free max gain. smells like clipping in here.. Any time you have have a power wire next to your frame put some rubber hosing (or cut up an innertube) around it.
