DD1 doesn't seem to be helping?

Recommended Posts

I've always wondered this though, I have an Excelon too, in the menu you can turn off the built in amp, I did this and my bass played but the door speakers didn't work so I figure you turn this off when your speakers are being powered by a seperate amp and maybe that internal amp causes the early clipping?

I read a while ago that the sub level needs to be at +15 so I did this and it made my subs come to life, no issues at all with my subs and its been about 2 months now. I'll have to maybe talk to Treydog on here since he lives near me and has a DD-1 so I can get mine tuned and see what happens since my x592 is an older model.

I usually have my volume at 28-30 anyways

Anytime bro. Just lemme know

so no matter what combination of settings i kept getting the same output. but im wondering. if the amp is putting out more than 500-600 watts. my box is 3 cubes wch is the max the sub whould be put in. is that "bottoming out" sound possibly caused because the box is to big with to much power???!?

I dunno if you said it a lot of people were saying in this thread tho

What will make a sub bottom out

1 box to big

2 port to big

3 playing to far out of tunning

or all of the above

bottoming out only noticeable when volume is loud though right?

and how do i tell the difference between clipping and bottoming out??

bottoming out the voice coil and former hit the bottom of the motor it sounds like metal hitting metal or a loud tap sound you cant mistake bottoming out

clipping will sound like major distortion if your clipping that bad

Have you ever had your woofers blown?

Also if you listen to any Decaf, or boosting and set your gains using the wrong tone... you could be clippin some..

iirc he never goes louder than -5 so you should use track 3 to set your gains.

if you set it using the other two (-10, -15) you will clip.

This may not apply to you but i thought it worth mentioning.
