Hotdog
Ok I modeled this up so you can see what I am talking about. Since I have been doing a lot of thinking on 4th orders and how people say more ratio = more output. Well why not the best of both worlds with a an expandable 4th order. The bottom is not on in this pic so you can see what I am thinking. You can slide your enclosure in and out and get the ratio you want. Say if you are doing a 2:1 ratio then you would be able to double that to 4:1 room permitting. Slide the box and bolt it in and your ready to go. What do you think ? bassface
I think you would also need to have an adjustable port also if thats the case. Because port size is directly linked to box size. Looks like it would be worth a shot to see what happens though.
Hotdog
have a removable port with a port made for each ratio. Markers in place so you know what ratio you are at. alaskanzx5
im thinking airleaks. how are you gonna kep the ported section from having air leaks where the none ported section is attached at. just a few bolts wont make it air tight.maybe some rubber molding that will slide with the box so that when you bolt it in place it smashed the rubber like a gasket. Hotdog
or a rubber roller that moved with the moving part of the chamber so it is sealed all the time. alaskanzx5
either way could work. as long as you keep it air tight after the adjustment is made i dont see why it wouldnt work. would be nice, could change it for high spl then move it back and swap out ports agian for the low lows. LZTYBRN
It might be easier to make the whole front piece (with the port) removable. Then you can have some pieces that come out more, and each piece can have its own appropriate port on it. Edit: Kinda hard to explain what I was talking about. Something like this: Then of course you just bolt it in and use some sort of gasketing tape. Edited July 7, 2012 by LZTYBRN
