Rear fill only playing bass?

Recommended Posts

Well, just for the hell of it I set the rear pre-outs to subwoofer mode. They are now playing full range beautifully! I actually had to set the fade to the front a few clicks those little AQ coaxes are louder than I expected. Firmware errors FTW!

I'm gonna hate

If your using all three sets of preouts, isn't one of those designated for a sub output? perhaps it doesn't matter before it gets to the amp as I've never tried it. Perhaps someone will clear that up though.

But if it does matter and your using the sub output to run your rears that would be why. I assume your running 2 amps, one for the fronts and a separate for the rear? If your 4 channel amp has a 2/4 channel mode you should be able to use it in 2 channel mode, with the front rca's to that amp and run all 4 front speakers from it still. Then just use the normal rear rca's to the second amp for the 6x9's.

Yup if he is useing all 3 rca outputs 1 should be sub out and already crossedover at 80 hz and down

Thought so but since I've never tried to run anything besides a sub off the sub output wasn't 100% if it would make a difference, was pretty sure it did but didn't want to just say it would and be wrong. Thanks for clearing that up.

I am using the front RCA outs for my 6.5 components on the first two channels of my 4 channel amp, the rear pre-outs for the second two channels on my 4 channel pushing the rear fill. The sub out goes to my sub amp, low-passed at 80hz subsonic at 25hz. The rear RCAs can be used as a second sub out but under settings it was set to full range not sub, when I set it to sub it started playing full range instead of just the low end as before, my head unit must have the two flipped. Everything else works without a hitch, though.
