i bought a 0 gauge rockford amp kit and it come with a 300 amp fuse in the fuse holder , i am going to be running stock bat and alt and i am wondering if that fuse may be too big , worried about not being protected against dc short , the amp i will be useing for subs is tma 1000/1 and i will have a smaller amp for mids and highs . i know my wiring is overkill for now , i am just wanting to make sure a 300 amp fuse isn't too big for my vehicle to be protected

The fuse rating is meant to protect the wire from shorting and catching fire. You can put a smaller fuse on it if you want but there is no need to

Yep, the 300 amp fuse is for the wire.

You need another fuse by your amp set to its current draw. Probably around an 80 amp will do. Check your manual to see what the manufacturer recommends.

The amp should have its own on board fuses to protect its circuits. The fuse on the wire is for protecting the wire from heating up and catching fire should it ever short out. S just use the 300A fuse that it came with and your done.

Bad mentality when working with fuses....

Not all that good when the fuse doesnt pop and the wire melts or catches fire.
