Real96SS
So I got absolute max dimensions since I pulled everything out to start on the new box. Max Dimensions 23"H 44"W 50"D. The 50 depth could have been more but I need to be able to mount the batteries and the amp in the bed for the time being and the amp is 11 1/2 wide while the batteries are only nine. My bed can go back to 62 so that's how I got 50 with a little space between the box and the rack. Here's some pictures of the bed stripped down. Now I'm going to play around with the numbers and then get wood in the morning to start the box. CJ18
I see alot of people talking out of their ass and then Ray. I would definitely listen to what he has to say. Not familiar with the PSI subs, so my suggestion is based on general principal and not those subs. I am assuming this will be 2 subs on the 1 9k. I would base your sealed chamber on the amount of power that you want them to be able to handle, 2.5ft3 sealed per sub would be a good place to start with the possibility of shrinking it down to 2ft3 sealed per sub if needed. I personally like a 2:1 ratio for music(this worked well for me and I loved the sound). This would put you starting at 5ft3 sealed and 10ft3 ported. For the port, I would start with about 20in2 per 1ft3 and tuned around 50hz and shrink it down until you are happy. My personal experience, 16in2 per ft3 and 45hz gave me about a 27-65hz bandwidth and sounds great on music. If you want to play low, 12-14in2 per ft3 and tune around 38-40hz. Just make sure that you design with a removable port so that you can play with different port areas and tunings to see which one fits your taste the best. CJ18
Also I would go with the second design with the subs in a rear chamber and the port in the middle. You should have less issues with this type of design. The first design, you would definitely run into loading issues with the sub closest to the port. Very good info.I have the calculator open now and I'm playing with the numbers.Soon as I get it together I will post the screen shot in here again for the final look over by you guys. Question for you. Do you figure out port size per ported section, or the whole enclosure? CJ18
Port is based on the ported section only.
