Recommended Posts

I have a sony gx700es that is running my audio system,

heres what it says on the back

doubt you can read it, just noticed that

but it says, if using channels A+B (which I am) select 4 ohms, and use 8 ohm or higher speakers, right now my subs are wired at 2 ohms, my question is, should I wire them to 8 ohms? would that work the best/put out the loudest sound with this receiver as the back says?

any feedback is helpful to me :)

the picture is all blurry. It makes me feel like im drunk already :(

Most home audio recievers are 8 ohms.. Meaning you should run 8 ohm or higher speakers like you said. so 8 ohms per channel.

Some nicer recievers will play decently at 4 ohms per channel (dennons, onkyos, yahmahas). My friends Onkyo will play 2 ohms without going into protect, but damn that thing gets HOT!! And in the owners manual it states that it is 2 ohm stable.

I wouldnt try pushing your reciever too hard, they are not built up no where near as much as a car amp.

No matter how you look at it, the lower ohm you run your amp at (pro audio, home audio, car audio) your amp will put out more power at lower ohms. But I for sure wouldnt run no lower then 4 ohm per channel esp when its telling you to run 8 ohms perchannel when using channels a and b.

I could be wrong but if it says that it works best at 8 ohms then try it!
