Bigsix
120 aint bad, but only if its nice. they typically go for 100 flat around here for a decent condition one. Spam cans of surplus ammo are where its at, but it uses a corrosive powder so be sure to clean it out good after every time your done shooting it. pimpnFosgates
thats what i was told. i was thinking of paying 25 bucks to get it cleaned the first time for me. but at the same time, i want to know its getting done right and actually gets clean. so 120s not bad for a brand new one? plus the 15 for the background check? Bigsix
15 extra for a background check? Isnt like that around here, ATF form is free as part of buying the gun. Wtf state are you in? 135 plus tax is not such a great deal. Not for a 91/30. Check out " www.armslist.com" look up your state on there (if private owner sales are legal) and buy one that way for around 100 bucks. Or go to a gun show. BTW, the Mosins are fun as shit to shoot. Plus if you want to learn about things like barrel shortening and doing a re-crown on it, big dieal, its a 100 dollar gun. I gave mine a once over, milled off the bolt, bent up a custom longer one and welded it on, gave it a "homebrew" trigger job that smoothed it out and added a spring to take all the loose slack out of the trigger when its cocked. Refinished the stock, and threw a cheap optic on the dove tail where the original rear sight was, scout rifle style All pretty much free or cheap... CLNSHVNnDRAGGN
If its a model 91/30 that price isn't bad as long as its the hex receiver. If its the round receiver that price is about $40 too high. If its a M44 model the price is about $20 too much. Those prices are assuming its a grade of excellent which it sounds like it is. If it happens to be a Finnish model I want to know where it is at that price because I will buy them all. Quote www.facebook.com/BILLatDivineCreationsPhoto He was taunting me. bumonskateboard6
I've done a couple mosin "restorations", krud kutter will strip the cosmoline and old stain off the stock really well. I usually fill a tub with boiling water to steam open the wood and cosmoline literally sweats out of those things. Once they're all clean I usually sand them/stain them, and give them a good polyurethane finish. As for cleaning the cosmoline off the metal I use brake cleaner and kerosene with old tooth brushes and that usually gets everything off. Best of luck!
