Johnny248
I've been using my hammer crimper for years to crimp mostly power and ground cable. Anything from 8ga and larger. I've never had a problem. Today I was lectured by this guy who tells me that my trusty hammer crimper makes for "garbage crimps" and that I need to either solder the end (like Steve) or use something like the picture below. Thoughts? Have I been making "garbage" battery lug crimps for years? -= J-dUb =- ....no 12 step program can cure my car audio addiction...
Rebel4055
I use a 8 ton hydraulic crimper. Rest In Peace mother. January 22, 1955 - February 14, 2013 http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/user/35351-megrch/
ant the ninja
Generally hammer crimpers dont work well with 0 gauge and up, atleast thats what I've always been told. Hydraulic crimpers and soldering are much better. 2002 Ford Explorer XLT Front Stage: Crescendo CCX 6.5's Rear Stage: ??? SnowDrifter
Well, consider that guy a friend. Because hammer crimpers make the wire stay in the terminal - not create a good connection like a real set of crimpers IMHO - get a hydraulic crimper.
