Stock 160 amp alt. 1 interstate 8500 battery under hood big 3 upgrade, 0 gauge running to amp in the back. i get voltage drop and light dimming, I HATE IT!!! if i add a second battery to my stock alt. would that help me or would i be bad? would it put to much strain to kill it? and i did like 2 runs of 0 gauge to the back battery would all that be really helpfull? or just get new alt. mechman 270 amp NOTHING DOWN HERE YET OBSIDIAN FTW

siucsaluki11 Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 AGM, Absorbed glass matt I just put an HC1400 under my hood, stock 120A alt on my lancer, hifonics BRZ1700.1D and an alpine 4ch, drove around for 30 min at full tilt for over 3/4 that drive (went to the boonies, which is right down the road, yet chicago is only 40 miles away), no dimming at all, and my car started right back up after i shut it down to check how the battery was doing. You may be able to get away with just the 1800, but the 1800 in addition to your stock battery would serve you well, and probably be much cheaper than a 270A alt.... oh yeah, i don't have the big 3 done yet...just a single run of 1/0 from front to back and my HC1400 under the hood. woman..cant live with em...cant shoot em...guess were all fucked You might be a Redneck if you use your leftover gutters for a speaker box port...
