bcpballer64 Posted June 27, 2012 Report Posted June 27, 2012 Well with all of the talk of building AR's I have been convinced that I want to too. So here is what I am thinking of using for it, I am not wanting/needing anything super fancy, just something that when I go out and pull the trigger it shoots. I am trying to stay pretty low budget too. So if you see anything majorly wrong/wont work let me know. And also if there is something better for about the same money I am more than happy to here about it. So anyway that's what I am planning. n8ball2013 Posted June 28, 2012 Report Posted June 28, 2012 Grab a magpul Moe stock. Check out primary arms or palmetto state armory for it. Also make sure your buffer tube and buffer are included. Also your lpk look for one minus the fire control kit and grab a spikes battle trigger. For another 60 bucks your trigger will be ten tines better than the dpms.otherwise looks great THERE IS NO BUILD LOG! 1998 Chevy Silverado ext cab Alpine CDA-9887 4 Team Fi 15s 2 Ampere Audio TFE 8.0 2 Ampere Audio 150.4 3 Digital Designs CS6.5 component sets Dual Mechman 370XP Elite alternators inbound! 8 XS Power d3400 6 XS power d680 Second Skin Stinger Tsunami Wiring Sky High A Real Voltmeter not a piece of shit stinger.
n8ball2013 Posted June 28, 2012 Report Posted June 28, 2012 Oh try to find a lower locally that way you aren't getting hit for a transfer. Should be around 100 bucks. Stay away from the polymer lowers. Most lowers are made by the same companies so brand is not nearly as important for them. bcpballer64 Posted June 28, 2012 Author Report Posted June 28, 2012 Okay I will keep that in mind for the lower for sure, and I looked at the spikes trigger already, and I was keeping it in the back of my mind. My concern was really with the upper and barrel? Are they decent? focalrock4life Posted June 28, 2012 Report Posted June 28, 2012 Okay I will keep that in mind for the lower for sure, and I looked at the spikes trigger already, and I was keeping it in the back of my mind. My concern was really with the upper and barrel? Are they decent? the daniel defense barrel is going to be among the top of the line barrels available. The upper receiver you have doesn't look to be bad at all and you honestly wont be able to tell the difference in your application. However, you need to keep in mind that if you are going to assemble your upper from scratch, you are going to need the proper tools as well as a barrel nut (buy colt), gas block (either low profile or a FSB), gas tube (carbine length for the barrel you listed) and some type of muzzle device. Dont forget your sights either, I didn't see them listed. what are you going to do about the bolt carrier group? tools you'll need are a upper reciever vise block (I use the panther claw from DPMS), some grease for the threads (I use Aeroshell 33MS grease which is the technically correct grease to use), ar 15 barrel wrench, torque wrench( not necessary but if you want to do it right ) a set of roll pin punches for the gas tube and gas block(depending on what type you get whether it be clamp on or pin). ask me any question you may have as I have done several uppers from scratch. IMO if you just plan on building one, then I would just buy a pre assembled upper from either DD or BCM with the barrel already attached as that can be the tricky part for your first time. ETA- in regards to what n8ball said about the LPK, white oak armament sells one without the FCG for like 35-40 bucks. its a great deal and they are the only LPK I buy because I dont use stock triggers in anything.
bcpballer64 Posted June 28, 2012 Author Report Posted June 28, 2012 Ok cool, that "The strongest reason for people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." -- (Thomas Jefferson)
bcpballer64 Posted June 28, 2012 Author Report Posted June 28, 2012 YH upper said assembled with I assumed meant everything but the barrel, does it not mean that? In the picture it looks like it has the bolt and such with it. And ill check out those LPKs too. Nope. what you have is the shell essentially. when it says assembled it means it has the ejection port cover and forward assist already installed. same goes for your barrel you listed it does not have anything on it like i mentioned in my previous post. you still need the gas block, tube and muzzle device.
n8ball2013 Posted June 29, 2012 Report Posted June 29, 2012 yoiure also missing hte rail as well. you may want to look into the fully assembled upper as well.
