boostin302
hey guys. ive been trying to figure out the tuning of this port. here is a pic of the port with the measurments drawn on it all measurmants are inside minus the top of it which is outside measurements. ( the 7 1/2 part) the MDF is 3/4. the box measurements are 27" depth, 34" wide, 15" height. those are outside measurements also. MDF is 3/4 thick of course. i tried to figure it out on torres but got confused on the baffle part on the calc. the woofer total displacment is .40 ( 2 12's, .20 each) there is pics of the box build on my build log if you need anymore pics on it. thanks josh edit: here is link to build log with the box build pics. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/143943-2001-mustang-gt-system-rebuild-box-build-pics-updated-61512/page__fromsearch__1 My build log http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/143943-2001-mustang-gt-system-rebuild-box-build-pics-updated-61512/ 2001 Ford Mustang GT 4.6 SOHC 380HP 270 amp Mechman alt 2 12" Treo SSX custom built. 6.47 cu ft, tuned to 32Hz 2 hifonics Brutus 2400.1, strapped 1 optima yellow top 1 Kinetic HC1800 14.4v @ 29Hz, 2k RPM over 100ft 1/0 XS flex wire Big 3 in 1/0 100sq ft fatmat deadener 145.3 on music, 142.6 sealed on music Stop being a pussy and wall it off. Torres
eyeballing off the pictures on how much of the port is not in the box, i'm getting a tuning of 32 hz. that's before any displacements.
16K
my question is how do u find out how long that port is.... since its L shaped.... im thinking like 18"... and if thats the case its tuned to 24hz.... that box is too big for 2 12s imo http://portsgalore.stefanhinote.com/?do=portlength *** 1991 Turbo Walled Civic 400whp @ 20psi *** - JVC KDS88BT Headunit - 4 15" Fi BTL N2 Fully Loaded Subs - 1 SD16kD Amp - 14.5ft^3 Wall Tuned to 37hz with 202in^2 of port - Mechman 220a HO Alternator - 6 XS Power D3100 Batteries - Copper Buss bars - 2 Runs of 4/0 Welding Cable - Big 3 - Stinger Digital Volt Meter Burp outlaw in the kick: 158.9db Music: 157.5db Sealed on the dash: 157db - SPL Labs Rep for Missouri -
Torres
measure down the middle, and yes i got 18". but how do you figure 24 hz?
16K
thought it was down the middle use my calc lol http://portsgalore.stefanhinote.com/?do=portlength port is 6" x 6" since you take off 3/4" on each side i got around 7.5 ft3 after subs.... type in 24hz for the tuning.... it shows it needs to be 17.7" long *** 1991 Turbo Walled Civic 400whp @ 20psi *** - JVC KDS88BT Headunit - 4 15" Fi BTL N2 Fully Loaded Subs - 1 SD16kD Amp - 14.5ft^3 Wall Tuned to 37hz with 202in^2 of port - Mechman 220a HO Alternator - 6 XS Power D3100 Batteries - Copper Buss bars - 2 Runs of 4/0 Welding Cable - Big 3 - Stinger Digital Volt Meter Burp outlaw in the kick: 158.9db Music: 157.5db Sealed on the dash: 157db - SPL Labs Rep for Missouri -
Torres
are you accounting for the amount of port that is not inside the box?
bkolfo4
Both of you guys missed his mistake - The 12 dimension should be 13.5 (7.5 + 6). This gives a port length of 19.5, not 18. And how did 16k get 7.5 cuft?? 25.5 x 32.5 x 13.5 is only 6.47 cuft gross volume. Maybe I missed something?? Guessing on the amount of port sticking out of the box, and guessing on the amount of flange protruding into the box for the pieces to connected the 2 pieces of box together, you are very close to 5.5 cuft tuned to 27 Hz.
