Beckett
forgot who originally posted it but i saved it i am a bit confused cus in that table it says that if i want 800rms @2 OHMs then i need 40 volts. but the calculation to achieve this is ....square root 800x2 correct? which if it is then i need 56 volts. but that table says that is 4 ohms? someone explain lol. cheeeers. x JS Fraser *Alpine Typr-R 12" *JBL GTO 1200.1 Sub Amp *Alpine PDX-4.100 *Rockford Fosgate Power 6.5's *Rockford Fosgate Fanatics 6.5's Both in front doors *0/1 Guage wiring from front Junction Boxes to 120AH Battery In Boot (battery removed because too small for alternator) *140 Amp HO Alternator *Alpine Head Unit -------------------------------------------------------------------------x------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ISO
Be a man and learn how to do it by ear. If your useing it with mids and tweets you would almost be an idiot not to beable to do it by ear. Subwoofers are the hard part to do by ear. You can do it man just take your time, find some good quality recordings (4 or 5 good CDs) and when things start to sound crappy you know the amp is up to high. Your ears won't lie. mrrairai
Because your amp puts out AC voltage. Have you ever seen ac and dc voltage on an o-scope? if so you would know why. If your sub is getting dc power its a very bad thing X2. Also DC doesn't move your subs. It only powers the amp and then the amp converts it to AC. Beckett
800 x 2 = 1600 square root of 1600 is 40 for 4 ohm 800 x 4 = 3200 square root of 3200 is 56.56 cheers man, that has cleared it up tonnes !!!! i put square root 800x2= (in that order and it was giving me 56) but putting800x2=1600.......then square rooting 1600 gave me the 40:) thanks!! xx JS Fraser *Alpine Typr-R 12" *JBL GTO 1200.1 Sub Amp *Alpine PDX-4.100 *Rockford Fosgate Power 6.5's *Rockford Fosgate Fanatics 6.5's Both in front doors *0/1 Guage wiring from front Junction Boxes to 120AH Battery In Boot (battery removed because too small for alternator) *140 Amp HO Alternator *Alpine Head Unit -------------------------------------------------------------------------x------------------------------------------------------------------------------
